Digital Photography

Status: Active, open to new members
Facilitator: Lorna Chandler
When: Fortnightly, Monday afternoons

We are a small, friendly and inclusive group, united by an interest in photography. Members are welcome to use any digital device of their choice – cameras or smartphones. In keeping with the ethos of the u3a, learning from each other and socialising are central tenets. Compared to other local camera clubs, we take ourselves less seriously and eat more cake!

We meet on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month, typically at 1:45 pm, for a 2 pm start. Our schedule includes going out on visits to take photos at different locations, as well as meeting up to share photos, which we get printed. Recent visits have included Penberth, Zennor, and Helston Museum of Rural Life. Additionally, we take photos on a number of set themes, agreed in advance and suggested by the group.

Latterly we have been meeting up at each others’ homes in order to share photos from our previous visit and those taken on our set themes. In our group there is no single judge – we like to discuss the merits of different photos and we each pick out our favourite ones, selecting a few of these to go in the u3a Newsletter.

New members are most welcome, though we may reach the point of closing membership given that we meet in our own homes, rather than a bigger venue.
