Enjoy making, decorating and flying kites or just want to watch, then come along and have a go.
There is a selection of single, two and four-line kites, both bought and made, which you are welcome to fly (no experience necessary, it just requires a sense of fun).

Besides flying kites, group members will participate in any or all of the following

  • Kite making
  • Kite decorating
  • Formation flying
  • Aerial photography
  • Teddy bear parachuting
  • Line laundry – inflatable figures, spinners, drogues etc. that attach to the flying line
  • Kite Fighting
‘Myself and Marian went along to the Kite Flying Group today (Thursday) at Rosudgeon and enjoyed it very much.  We are complete beginners and did not own a kite, but the Group Leader, Clive Glentworth, kindly lent us a couple out of his wide selection to try out.  With the other kite flyers, we had 11 kites in the air at one time – lots of room for everyone on this huge grassy field.  You don’t need to run about, everything is done at a civilised pace.  We also enjoyed just sitting and watching the many types of colourful kites in the sky.  We found it a very friendly and welcoming group. It is useful to have a pair of old gloves with you to make it easier on the hands.  A folding chair, some antiseptic hand gel and a flask of hot tea also came in handy.  Why not come along and have some fun in the open air – a virus-safe activity!  Contact the Group Leader, Andy Nicholls, beforehand for further information.’  Dr Malcolm Brown and Marian Hayes

The Kite group comprising members from Helston and Penzance U3As continues to meet every Thursday at Rosudgeon playing fields to socialise, enjoy the sea air and fly kites.   The fine weather has given us the chance to fly a range of kites, try out new creations and give any recent acquisitions an airing.
Here are some pictures that were taken over the past few weeks. Take a look at our Facebook Page.
