Tap Dancing

This class is now progressing well……we can execute time steps and pickups, ripple shuffles and wings on the agenda!
Tap dancing is a fun way of keeping fit. It ranges from simple steps set to lively music to more complicated dance routines.  It builds strength, improves posture, stamina, coordination and balance.  It also enhances cognitive abilities, as one needs to memorise and recall various routines.  An added advantage is that it is a solo dance style and does not require a partner.
Wear comfortable clothes, i.e. trousers and a top, and hard-soled shoes are necessary.  Shoes with the correct taps can be obtained if one continues.
It is possible to learn the basic steps sitting down, as many are performed “on the spot”.
Dancing in any form sharpens minds and gives an overall sense of wellbeing. Tap dancing is 80% brain work and 20% footwork, according to Fred Astaire, and if you have enough room in your kitchen to “stand and boil an egg ” you have enough room to practice. The kitchen floor probably would not agree!!
Come and join, it is great fun.
Weekly at the WMCA- Mondays 2.00 – 2.30 for beginners, and then the main class runs from 2.30 – 3.30.
